Amazon.com Product Description
Outfitted with a heavy-duty ABS exterior and EZ-glide roller wheels, the Datrek Hardcase Compact makes it easy to haul your golf clubs whether across the city or across the country. The hard-case cover measures 48 inches long--big enough to accommodate most stand bags. More importantly, the tough construction and foam padded interior help protect your clubs from rough baggage handlers. And thanks to the three heavy-duty latches and TSA combination lock, you can ensure that the case won't fly open at the most inopportune time. The case, which comes in an easily identifiable red color, carries a one-year warranty.

Summary: So far it's a great item 2008-04-05
Comment: I bought this for other than the stated purpose, I don't golf. I use mine to carry my SCA fencing gear several 37"-40" rapier type weapons (SCA calls them schlagers) and helmet and main gauche (fat dagger) and some supplies like tips and tape cleaning supplies etc. Mine has not been on an airplane yet but I did just take it to Mississippi for a week long war, it was bounced around in my friends trailer, it was dragged all over the war site for different battles (you haven't lived till you fight with 150+ rapier fighters in a town or ravine battle) and it of course made it home in the trailer again, it's bounced around in the bed of my pickup truck for several days going to practices and yeah it's got a few nicks on the cover in places but I'm not having issues with anything breaking at least not yet. I do agree that perhaps the outside latches could be a bit heavier duty and I have had one of them pop open for no apparent reason but perhaps that's why there are three on there? I love this thing, for me it was worth every dime, a lot of the folks I fence with have the cheaper all plastic ones that come from places like walmart, they don't have the good wheels this one has and they are not nearly as well made for only a little bit less money. The unit comes with keys for the outside locks, I don't lock those just the center one. I've had no problems but of course the abuse received in a cargo bay on a plane may be another matter; don't plan to use mine that way but you never know.

Summary: Latches are NOT heavy duty 2008-04-01
Comment: Really like the size of the Tomato because it fit a standard, non-tour bag just perfectly. The size and the color are the only positives.
I used it on one trip and both "heavy-duty" latches broke. The left and right latches are really flimsy and use small delicate parts. The center latch protrudes way too much and puts the TSA approved lock in harm's way.
Datrek needs to design their case better. Use better latches and make sure you protect those latches. Wish I had bought the SKB case instead.

Summary: Fell Apart on our First Trip 2008-03-20
Comment: Maybe it's a comment on the state of airline services today, but this thing fell apart on it's very first use. When we pulled it off the baggage claim at the airport on its very first flight, both wheels had broken off, and its handle was damaged, along with a huge crack in the bottom of the case.
Luckily, it was just holding golf clubs, and the lock didn't bust open.
